Jen + Kirby | Tri-Cities, Wa

bg (21 of 24)

__________

There are those weddings where it seems like the only two people there are the couple. Which is the way it should always be but with this wedding, you really felt it. It was as if they didn't realize there was anyone else in the room.

I had so much fun photographing them. Lindsay (my wife) came along with me to be the second shooter. She is absolutely amazing. I wish she would shoot more weddings with me. The first photograph was taken by her. I am always impressed with her angles and attention to detail.

Make sure to watch the slideshow at the bottom or click on the link to view slideshow full screen.

It's always nice to hear feedback from the couples. Here is her email she sent me after only seeing two images online of thier wedding~

Daniel,

You are one of the most talented people I have ever met! I logged onto your website
this evening under the flickr (which I have never heard of) and saw two of our
photos. What a way to capture the moment!!! I am so excited to see more. You
will never need a reference with the website that you have built. Please tell
Lindsay thank you as well. You both are fabulous and I really enjoyed being able to
see slideshows of your wedding and many others on your site.

Take Care and I am so impressed!

Tulips | Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival, Woodburn OR

__________

If you haven't gone out here it is definitely worth a trek. Acres of tulips--it's quite a sight!

It's so photogenic- so much so it's hard to get a shot that hasn't been done before.

I managed to do that by using a bokeh panorama technique created by Ryan Brenizer. The idea is to have a selective focus with some serious depth of field giving it a 3D look and alot of bokeh. To achieve it you have to have a long lens with a low fstop and take a crazy amount of photos of the scene. It' kinda of complicated and I am not sure how to word it but this is the outcome.

Here are a few shots from a photo shoot I did with the band, Terracoustic. OMG! They are amazingly talented. Some of the best shots were taken when they were rocking out--they were totally in their element.

You can read about them and hear some of the music on their myspace page and stay tuned for their fancy new website http://www.terracoustic.com with great new photos :) - I'll let you know when it's up.

Can't wait to see you guys play again soon!

Boaz Frankel | Un Road Trip, Portland Or

website (7 of 64)

__________

I recently read about Boaz and his upcoming adventure in the Oregonian. I envy guys like him--always seeking the thrill of adventure and seizing the moment--while trying to convey a great message.

Boaz left yesterday on a 10 week journey where he'll be criss-crossing through the United States. He'll be using every mode of transportation except for a car. As I write this, he's making his way through Northern California by way of Amtrak. We're not just talking trains and boats here but everything from segways to horseback to hang gliders.

I was there to photograph the start of his journey, where Boaz and the Mayor of Portland, Sam Adams, rode off on a tandem bike. It was quite a sight.

Follow his adventure at http://www.unroadtrip.com/ or keep up on his twitter http://twitter.com/boazf

Junior Diabetes Research Foundation | Auction, Portland, OR

proofs JDRF 2009 298

__________

I recently covered an auction with another great photographer, Aubrie LeGault. The auction was to raise awareness and financial support for Type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes, also know as juvenile diabetes, is a condition that usually effects children and young adults where the body does not produce insulin.

They raised well over one hundred thousand dollars and it was an emotional experience listening to stories from some of the kids who had this condition

If you would like to donate to JDRF please link to their website.

Amy proof lg

__________

Along with being a great person, Amy is a super talented actress, writer and teacher. She wanted a few headshots for her upcoming endeavors and I was happy to help her. I am really excited for her. She is about to publish her first novel and is teaching an acting class in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The top photo is the one she chose for her brochure and the others are just fun outtakes.

Best of luck, Amy! You're a rockstar!
